Professional Title: Lecturer in social care
Institution: Waterford Institute of Technology
Position: Associate Member

I am a lecturer in social care in Waterford Institute of Technology and have particular interests in social justice and equality issues relating to different groups of vulnerable women experiencing homelessness, lone motherhood, domestic abuse, mental ill-health and substance misuse issues.

Currently I am completing a PhD in UCD’s Department of Equality Studies that looks at homeless mothers who are unaccompanied by their children in their homelessness and how they are cared for by professional care workers (service providers; wider society). This study recognises the significance of the affective domain, which is responsible for producing relations of love, care and solidarity or relations of abuse and neglect, and the interrelationship between the affective domain and economic, political and cultural inequalities.
