Suzanne L. Wenzel, PhD, is the Richard and Ann Thor Professor in Urban Social Development, and Chair of the Department of Adult Mental Health and Wellness, in the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work at the University of Southern California.  She is a community psychologist and has conducted research over more than two decades to understand and address homelessness and the health and social needs of persons experiencing homelessness in urban areas, with a special focus on women.

n research including or focusing specifically on homeless women, Suzanne has received sponsorship as principal investigator from the National Institutes of Health and other agencies in the U.S. to conduct social ecological research addressing victimization and trauma, alcohol and drug use, mental health, HIV/AIDS risk and prevention, and life in permanent supportive housing.  She currently serves on the National Academies of Sciences panel on Homelessness, Health and Housing, and on the research council of the National Alliance to End Homelessness.
